If you say gay marriage is such a huge sin, really think about it for a minute. God hating on gays is mentioned in one part of the bible, and even then it only says he doesn't want them sleeping with each other. There's not really anything about gay marriage. Looking at the ten commandments that y'all revere so much, on the other hand, no one can honestly say they haven't used the lord's name in vain, or that they haven't been disrespectful to their parents at one point or another. Ever been jealous of someone else? Or worked on a sunday? Those are all pretty flipping big, seeing as they're on the commandments that are drilled in your heads since who knows when. Before you criticize such a small part of the bible, why don't you look at yourself? Guess y'all are goin to hell along with the gays because you've broken far more commandments than gays have done wrong.

You make some great points. But I think there is more to the equation than what you see. The Bible does say that they should sleep together but God created marriage between a man and a woman. In the beginning of time before sin that was the way marriage was. Basically what I'm saying that at a perfect time there was a perfect marriage. Also we can figure out by general revelation that man and woman compliment one another physically. And as for your next point about Christians breaking the ten commandments, you are completely right. We are terrible hypocrites who deserve hell but its bc of Christ's love and by His grace we are saved. And its because Christians recognize they are sinners is why they become them. One more myth to debunk, Christians don't hate gays, nor does God. While someChristians misrepresent our faith others truely love them like we are supposed to. Having a same-sex attraction is a sin no different than having a pride issue. Its just something we need to repent of and change. I hope this helps!

Gay marriage will have no impact whatsoever on heterosexual communities, just as racial integration in the 60's had no negative impact on White (the majority) communities. It simply overturned an ugly, immoral attitude that upheld segregation. The same goes for legalizing gay marriage; it will grant the LGBT community a right that has been immorally denied to them.

I don't have a god forsaken login so I guess I'll be an "anonymous coward" like the majority of you. Let me tell you why people are afraid of same sex marriage: because they are 100% ignorant, and they believe that their beliefs over rule the beliefs of others, which is totally idiotic. "Oh no, (insert random bible script here) God is going to damn you to hell, and my children's minds are being 'tainted' by the idea of an obscurely mentioned sentence in a book that is thousands of years old." Well, guess what? If your child is being "tainted" by anything, it's definitely your ignorance. Believe in what you want, believe in only one form of love, believe in an all- knowing God, believe in being stupid, I don't give a fvck. I'm not "affecting your lives" at all, and frankly YOU are affecting my life with your "disgusting" attempts to dictate what I want to do as a human that is in love. And you can't fvcking tell me that it isn't love, how the hell would you know? You don't. So shove a bible in your mouth (or up your ass) and sit back and watch an obvious human right get officially and federally protected. I won;t be thinking of any of you filthy excuses for humans when I'm in the altar tearing up because my newly wedded wife looks so beautiful in her dress. Cry about it if you want, tell everyone something that has been said hundreds of times about your illusion of a God that can tell me what's right and wrong, (which he obviously can't because none of you will ever see him, let alone will I.) Suck it up, because you can't stop any of us, and you sure the hell can't stop me.

One of the major reasons that gay marriage is currently illegal is due to the religious interpretation that "homosexuals are sinners." Such a religious perspective should have no place in federal, legal matters in the United States. We live in a secular society that maintains secular views. The Ten Commandments do not define our legal system, so why does the religious argument "marriage is the union between a man and a woman" keep so many happy, gay couples from becoming legally married? Legalizing gay marriage will have no impact on religion and/or the religious view of others, just as religion should not have any impact on the issue of gay marriage.

Religion and a person's belief system is their choice, and why should our government be based on just one group of people's point of veiw? The world (and our country) is a very diverse place that includes many different types of people, and it is for this reason that there is a seperation of church and state to begin with. And if you ask me, those two aren't seperated enough, but we can change that, starting with the legalization of gay marriages. We, as people, have no right to go shoving our beliefs down someone else's throat.

In the 50's, interracial marriage was illegal. But now, modern society understands this to be an unjust law that denied equal rights to couples who loved each other. The issue of gay marriage is no different. Denying marriage to two individuals who love each other is to deny them a fundamental freedom.

Two humans who love eachother deserve a right to legally be together, no matter what, end of story.

In New York, thousands of gay couples have already gotten married. Manhattan is expecting $9 million revenue during the first year that marriage was legalized. Sure, the economic boost is a plus... but the reality is that millions of gay partners already practice monogamous, loving relationships in the United States. The trouble is that they are not legally protected as married couples, even though their lifestyle mimics marriage! Gays already practice marriage in their homes, so what's wrong with granting the LGBT community the rights they deserve?

Gay couples are legally allowed to enter into a civil union partnership... but this is not nearly the same thing as marriage. Marriage licenses grant innumerable rights to married couples, rights that are not endowed to gay couples in civil unions. It is no excuse to deem that gay marriage is not necessary because "they already have civil unions... why do they want more?" The financial, medical, and social rights that are associated with marriage are unfortunately kept away from homosexual couples.

It's hard to believe that in an era of unimaginable technological advancements, sexuality-based discrimination still exists. Hospitals cannot legally allow gay partners to visit their lovers or receive medical information about their condition without a blood relative present. This deprives partners essential medical rights and undermines the authenticity of their relationship. It leaves many partners unable to make important decisions. Legalizing gay marriage will allow gay couples hospital visitation rights and respect the validity of their marriage by letting them make medical decisions on behalf of their spouses.

Most adoption agencies discriminate against gay couples and make it incredibly difficult for them to adopt children. Many agencies will only release children to "married" couples, therefore rejecting stable, loving, homosexual parents. By legalizing gay marriage across all states, adoption agencies will be forced to grant the same respect and rights to homosexual couples. There are over 500,000 children currently living without parents in the United States; gay marriage will increase the chances for thousands of foster children to gain loving parents and families.

Legalizing gay marriage will help to establish a social norm that includes and respects homosexual lifestyles. Couples as well as individuals in the LGBT community will seem less "different" from heterosexual lifestyle, so straight couples and individuals will be more inclined to accept homosexual couples into their communities.

The majority of teenage suicides today are being committed because the child was bullied in school as a result of his/her sexual orientation. The same acceptance that will come about due to legalizing gay marriage will show teens that homosexuality is accepted and respected in society. We need to explain to younger generations that being different (in any aspect of our lives) is not a social disability, so that they will never feel the need to take their own lives because they are gay.

well look this this way, in schools in the 50s a person would be relentlessly bullied for being black. today it is highly frowned on to bully people period and especially if the bullying happens based on race. now blacks and whites and can walk the same hallway. who is to say the same cant happen for gays? im straight but even i see that denouncing any kind of love based on religion or whatever crackpot thing you argue about doesn't help you or anyone and hurts good, kind people and kids everywhere. taking away gay marriage doesn't take away the gays and those of you who argue vehemently against it only make yourselves out to be a fool who future generations call idiots. humans were meant to evolve and change, so get with the program.
